PAST MASTER'S MEMORIES

Picture
JACK REEVES, JUNIOR PAST 2010-2011:
As a curious fifteen year old, I often wondered what was going on in the that old building in my home town with the odd emblem hanging on the front of the second floor.  The building is still there in that small farming down west of Waco but its rather delapidated now.  Neither me nor my friends knew what went on inside, even though some of their fathers were members.
Some time later when I was married and living with Coe up in Colorado, a neighbor asked me if I ever considered Masonry.  My response was:  What's a Mason?  He gladly explained the principles of Masonry. He had me hook line and sinker.  I petitioned Temple Gate Lodge #128 and was raised to the Sublime Decree of a Master Mason on February 8, 1978.  It was then I finally figured out was what going on in that building with the odd emblem in my hometown.
For the better part of the next 20 years Coe and I raised four wonderful kids, moved back to Texas, and I joined Woodland Lodge.  But I was what we call a "non-active" but contributing member.  And I was again approached by a friend to get more involved; to take a seat in the Lodge.  Thanks to Lino Licudan paying me this great compliment, I rededicated myself to the craft and eventually rose to sit in the East as Worshipful Master.
Nobody in my immediate family was or is in Masonry, so it instilled in me a sense of deep pride and accomplishment.  I feel privileged to have been not only accepted by the fine Brothers of Woodland, but given the esteemed honor of leading them in 2009 - 2010.  Jack Reeves March 17 2011
