Mark W. Mc Collum left this earth on October 16, 2011; after a valiant ten month battle with cancer from a brain tumor.  He traveled to the House not made with hands, eternal in the heavens, on his own terms.  He now sits with the Great Architect of the Universe, no doubt presiding over a Lodge of our dearly departed Woodland Members.

Mark was raised at South Park Lodge 1320 in Beaumont TX on March 27, 1984.  He transferred to Sugar Land 1141 in April of 1988.  Mark found his true Masonic Calling at Woodland Lodge in March of 1997.  He immediately was elected to "go through the chairs", and was elected Worshipful Master in 2001 - 2002.  As a Past Master he served as Woodland's Chaplin from 2003 to the present date.  Even during his illness Mark served as Chaplin during our recent installation of officers in June of this year.

Mark left a lasting impression on all those he met.  His dear friend Lino Licudan was, at Mark's request, teaching Mark his work again most of this past summer.  Even in Mark's weakened condition he spent many hours talking about Masonry with Bill Ash and James Ladd.  And just in the end of September, Mark had a 90 minute conversation with Brother Glen Morgan.

Many of our brethren may not know this but Mark personally raised tens of thousands of dollars for the Houston Chapter of the MS Society, riding his bike in many BP MS-150 Charity Bike Rides from Houston to Austin.

Mark's greatest passion for giving back to the community invovled his creation of Woodland Lodge, and our OES Chapter's annual Toys For Tots Drive during the Christmas Season.  Mark was awarded the Golden Trowel in 2009 for his many gifts towards promoting goodwill to his fellow human beings.
